How can we continue our activism for the human rights of LGBTIQ+ in Germany?

LSVD’s Executive Director Klaus Jetz welcomed the participants to the two-day workshop in the organization’s headquarters in Cologne and presented the work of LSVD and its internationally working Hirschfeld Eddy Foundation. Many of the participants had already been active in their home countries, fighting against the oppression of LGBTIQ+ people there. Others have begun their activism only after their arrival in Germany in order to improve the situation of LGBTIQ+ refugees in the camps and during the asylum process and to create visibility. The 13 participants represented seven nationalities and had come from six different federal states to initiate this new, Germany-wide unique network to give a political voice to LGBTIQ+ refugees.
