Looking for work in Germany? Getting a training or work permit depends on your residence status. If you meet the following requirements, you can apply on the ‘Tent-Portal’:
refugees with a residence permit can start training or work without any restrictions. If you have a residence permit (asylum procedure in progress) or temporary suspension of deportation, you’ll need a permit from the immigration office, which is usually only granted after a waiting period of at least three to six months. The requirements can vary depending on your individual case and residence status. In this case, you should find out about the right of residence for opportunities (Chancen-Aufenthaltsrecht). It offers people who have been living in Germany with a temporary suspension of deportation for at least five years on 31 October 2022 a temporary residence permit for 18 months to meet the requirements for a permanent right of residence (e.g. according to Section 25a or Section 25b of the Residence Act). This is a transitional arrangement designed to facilitate access to the labour market and ease the transition to permanent residence. The deadline for applications is 31 December 2025.
