New LSVD⁺ Project Launches: “„Flucht und Queer – Ankommen in Deutschland“

In May 2026, the new nationwide project “Flucht und Queer – Ankommen in Deutschland“ by LSVD⁺ – Federation for Queer Diversity – was launched. The project’s goal is to strengthen the sustainable integration and social participation of LGBTIQ+Q* refugees, new immigrants, and people with a migration background.

Many queer refugees continue to experience discrimination, uncertainties in the asylum process, and significant hardships in daily life even after arriving in Germany. Added to this are barriers to accessing work, education, housing, and healthcare. At the same time, many institutions, companies, and support structures lack specific expertise as well as services that are sensitive to discrimination.

This is precisely where the project comes in: It combines individual support, empowerment, and structural changes with digital services. The focus is on nationwide qualification and training programs for professionals, counseling centers, volunteers, job centers, companies, employers, government agencies, and educational institutions. The free training sessions provide practical knowledge on sexual and gender diversity, the reasons for flight among LGBTIQ+AQ* refugees, multiple discrimination, and trauma- and discrimination-sensitive work.

The first training of this kind for volunteers will take place on June 20, 2026, at the Alte Feuerwache. Registration at: ed.dvsl@seegufer-reeuq In addition, the training will cover practical steps for labor market integration, social participation, and support for queer refugees.

The goal is not only to share knowledge but also to build concrete confidence in taking action in everyday professional and volunteer work. A particular focus of the project is on labor market integration. Companies and employers are supported in creating non-discriminatory work environments, leveraging diversity as a resource, and attracting and retaining international skilled workers in the long term.

Further dates and registration options will be published shortly. For more information: www.queer-refugees.de

Together, we are shaping a Germany where diversity is seen as a strength and where all people have equal opportunities for participation, security, and career prospects.
